About Alternative/Educational Options & Learning for LT Students

The 2008-2009 school year will be the first year for the MSDLT Diploma Plus Secondary Academy, formerly known as the KIND School Learning Program.  The overall goal of the Diploma Plus Secondary Academy is to chart a new path to success for its students who may have not met with success by a traditional system.  Diploma Plus (DP) students are involved in transitional real world experiences, and challenged with post-secondary experiences while still in high school. The overall goal is accomplished by allowing all students to achieve maximum academic, ethical, social and personal growth in a setting which respects their unique individuality in a diverse environment.

The Diploma Plus Secondary Academy is intended for youth who have been unsuccessful in  a traditional system where as learners their gifts, curiosity, intelligence and power as learners were not developed to their highest potential.

Diploma Plus values the wealth of creativity, honesty, courage, and hopefulness our youth and their families bring. As students work through the DP Phases, they are involved in transitional experiences that culminate in enrollment in a college course, participation in internships, and the development and completion of Gateway Portfolios.

Our experienced staff provides structured support in a cooperative, nurturing school environment with smaller class sizes, individualized project-based academic instruction, and individual and group counseling.
